The manga ninja scrapper is back with even beefier battle modes

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 announced for PSP

The Game Developers Conference kicked off in San Francisco this week (as you may have gathered from our reports) and Namco Bandai has subsequently used it to reveal a new instalment of its high-kicking ninja game Naruto, fully entitled Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 – The Phantom Fortress.

As suggested by the number in the title, it's the second PSP Naruto game to hit PSP, following last year's Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes.

The publisher says this one has even more 2D manga style fighting in store, with some 20 characters from the TV series promised, each blessed with unique special techniques and jutsu. The game's Story mode sees Naruto and chums battling their way through a flying fortress that has descended on Hidden Leaf Village – a fortress that contains over 100 floors filled with battles, quizzes and various other mini-games.

Six different types of two-player battles will enable you to fight one-on-one or with multiple characters and be playable in ad-hoc or gamesharing fashion.

Namco Bandai also says that on top of the new stuff, all of the fans' favourite features from the game series will be carried over to this one.

The game is due for release in the US in June this year with, hopefully, a UK release date following soon after.
