Atari has announced what it believes is a unique gaming experience for anyone with an interest in or passion for horses.

If that's you, you'll probably want to know that My Horse and Me features a worldwide exclusive licence from the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the world's foremost horse sports organisation.

As such, the game aims to depict every aspect of equestrian life – ranging from sports and leisure riding to horse care – in realistic fashion. Apparently, the horse models and their animation are the most accurately depicted in video game form to date.

The attention to detail extends beyond the saddle, too, with a stable-full of modes hoping to deliver a deep gaming experience. Championship, for instance, enables you to take part in competitions at indoor and outdoor locations around the globe, ranging from rustic stables and classical riding schools to world-class tournament locations.

But don't let its authenticity fool you into thinking this is all serious business. A series of fun mini-games offering a variety of gameplay experiences are also promised, alongside a rewarding horse care dynamic and extensive customization.

"We are looking forward to providing the horse enthusiast community with a rich and authentic game that allows gamers to take care of and compete in a variety of challenges with their horse," said Emily Anadu, senior product manager at Atari.

"The game's distinctive and charming depiction of these noble animals is sure to win the hearts of horse devotees," she added, before galloping into the sunset without revealing a release date.
