Four new characters on the way

Enter, the nekomata - Muramasa Rebirth DLC coming to North America in 2014

Way back in January when Aksys announced that Muramasa: The Demon Blade would make its way to the PS Vita as Muramasa Rebirth, it also teased that the DLC would be coming with it.

These chapters are more than just costume swaps or new areas to explore, however, and each episode features a new character for players to control - along with new, challenging bosses to overcome.

Now, the wait for the DLC is (almost) over as Aksys announced that first of the planned DLC episodes, Fishy Tales of the Nekomata, is planned for a North American release in "early 2014".

In Fishy Tales of the Nekomata, a young girl Okoi and her brother are tasked with taking a special tea set to the shogun. Along the way, Okoi encounters a powerful and treacherous enemy who wants to take the tea set from her.

Luckily, Okoi is a nekomata (a sort of shape-shifting cat woman from Japanese myth) and she's not above using her razor-sharp claws to dispatch her foes.

You can upgrade her skills and claws via a skill tree mechanic, and even fuse her with her companion Miike to transform into a truly formidable and furry force of nature.

After completing the main storyline of Fishy Tales of the Nekomata, players can use Okai to take on all the normal bosses of Muramasa Rebirth to see how she stacks up to the main heroes Kisuke or Momohime.

Unfortunately, we don't know when or if these DLC episodes will make their way to Europe, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
