Henry Hatsworth devs are spinning a Monster Tale for DS
A girl and her blob
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure was one of the more interesting games on the DS in 2009.
Mixing 2D action platforming with match-3 style block-chaining, and a delightfully fake British sense of humour, it was a great title.
Now DreamRift, the new studio formed by Hatsworth designer Peter Ong and programmer Ryan Pijai, is working on another genre mash-up.
It will still have platforming on the top screen, but this time you're tasked with taking care of a pet on the touchscreen.
Pet a petThe game stars Ellie as our hero, and she saves the people of land by beating up enemies.
Found items can be sent down to Chomp, the monster living in the touchscreen. By feasting on this food, or playing with toys Ellie finds, his powers are increased.
You then unleash Chomp into the platforming world, to unleash oodles of damage. It's all a bit Boy and his Blob, but with better artwork and some new ideas.
Monster Tale is planned for release on DS this December. We hope it might turn up on other platforms too.
