Monster Hunter Explore is a 'lite' version of the series, out now on Android in Japan
Discover new lands
Capcom has released Monster Hunter Explore for Android players in Japan.
As we've said before, this is the "reborn" version of Monster Hunter Smart, it being meant as a more relaxed entry to the action-RPG series.
This means that, yes, there's more of a focus on exploring Markja Island here. By discovering unmarked areas you'll encounter new monsters and some have never been seen by the locals before.
You still battle these monsters, of course, but you're encouraged to learn about their history and find hidden treasure too.
With the action being on the "lite" side there's only 12 weapons in the game. They each have one-button commands with normal and special attacks.
Monster Hunter Explore is free to play but it doesn't let you buy weapons or items. Instead, you can spend money to increase the rewards you get for completing quests.
The Japanese version of Monster Hunter Explore can be downloaded on Google Play.
