Monkey Island 2 to get developer commentary track

The upcoming remake of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge will feature a full commentary track, as designers and writers Ron Gilbert, Dave Grossman, and Tim Schafer share their memories of making the pirate point and click epic.

Other features that fans enjoyed in the original Secret of Monkey Island remake will return in the sequel's special edition, including the completely redrawn graphics, remastered musical score, the full voiceover treatment, and an in-depth hint system.

New to LeChuck's Revenge is a fresh control scheme that lets players take direct control of Guybrush, if you're sick of pointing and clicking. Devout adventure game purists can of course still use the original control method if they wish. You'll also be able highlight all interactive objects in the environment to avoid missing vital objects.

Gamespot ran an interview with the three creative minds behind the original game, as well Monkey Island 2 Special Edition producer, Craig Derrick, to talk more about the changes in in LeChuck's Revenge's special edition, and their thoughts on the game's lasting appeal.

Tim Schafer revealed that he's a man after Pocket Gamer's heart, admitting that he played through the Secret of Monkey Island remake on his iPhone. " I ended up playing it through twice on my Xbox and once on my iPhone," Schafer said.

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge will set sail on home consoles, PC, and iPhone and iPod touch this summer.

We've contacted LucasArts for confirmation that the commentary track will be available for iPhone gamers, and will let you know what we hear back.

LucasArts News The below video comes from the Xbox Live Arcade edition of Monkey Island 2, which some naughty member of the press has leaked. It's the first gameplay video of the game released though, so we decided to include it.
