You thought you saw the last of the quirky indie roguelikes? Oh ho ho, think again my friend. They're not dead yet.

This one, from Relic Rush creator Jason Pickering and publisher Crescent Moon, is called MicRogue and it's a clever, puzzle-filled strategy roguelike about climbing up a big tower.

And it has some interesting chess-like elements where players and enemies can only move in particular and specific ways. Some can only move a certain distance, some can move diagonally and so on.

If that wasn't enough stuff to make you have to scratch your noggin in every stage, there are also tricky enemies with special abilities like a floating eyeball that can transport you to another place and a fire blob that can damage other enemies upon death.

You'll need to think carefully about how to exploit those special abilities to stay alive and keep climbing.

What's up the top of the tower? Who knows. We'll find out soon when this one hits iOS and Android for a few quid, next week. I think. I can't remember. Jet lag is messing with my brain.
