Madden NFL 10 multiplayer update on iPhone Bluetooth-only

When Madden NFL 10 receives its long-awaited multiplayer update later this winter, it will only support local Bluetooth play.

EA Mobile confirmed with us this week that there are no plans to offer online multiplayer for the game. "It will be Bluetooth only," affirmed a representative for the publisher.

The same person reiterated the planned winter release, a period of time which extends well into 2010. It's conceivable that the update could hit as late as February.

Multiplayer, or more specifically the lack thereof, was among the chief complaints we had with the game in our review back in September.

It was one of very few criticisms we levelled on the game, which remains the best example of American football on iPhone and iPod touch.

Madden NFL 10 is available now on iPhone and iPod touch for £3.99/$6.99.
