Lunar: Silver Star Story Touch, the remade version of the Sega Saturn/Playstation 1 classic JRPG, gets its first big update after four years of silence

SoMoGa’s mobile port of the old JRPG Lunar: Silver Star Story has finally received its first update in four years with version 3.0. This new update brings with it an absolute boatload of new quality-of-life features, with some of the highlights being the improved audio alongside the new functionality of running at 60fps on all devices.

In case you aren’t familiar, Lunar: Silver Star Story is one of the classics, having been originally released onto the SEGA-CD of all things. With this mobile edition, the game was finally available in English save for its only other English port on the PSP or PS1. So, it's not exactly the most accessible game out there. The Silver Star features a top-down 2D art style reminiscent of JRPGs of that era like Final Fantasy or Legend of Mana.

Now, with this update, there are a bunch of small but very important touch-ups that have been made to make the mobile edition run that much smoother. There's that 60fps increase previously mentioned, as well as the improved audio, which also now allows you to choose between the old soundtrack and the PSP version of the soundtrack depending on which one you prefer.

Alongside those, we’ve also got new controller support built into the game, making it compatible with just about all controllers under the sun. There’s also the ability to hide the touch controls if you’re using a controller, and you can even switch to the classic UI too!

Finally, there are also two new difficulty settings, with one being reminiscent of the Sega Saturn version and the harder ones more in tune with the American release. So, whether you're a fan of the game and looking to experience it again or a newcomer to the Lunar series, this is a perfect port to give a try either way!
