Legend of Kingdoms guide - 7 tips for legendary commanders

Legend of Kingdoms seems pretty straightforward at first glance, but once you pass the first few stages, things tend to get a little complicated. I've created a complete guide for Legend of Kingdoms to help you get through the early and mid-game, and eventually succeed in the late game.
Legend of Kingdoms has beautiful graphics, and although they are a little simple, they only make the game that much more enjoyable to me. Despite these simple visuals though, the gameplay is surprisingly complex and finding a balance between everything that you should be doing daily can become overwhelming (at times).
That's exactly why today we have a complete Legend of Kingdoms guide, to help you make all the right decisions early on and never run into issues or get stuck playing one stage forever.
Below I've shared tips on forming a good team, what you can do if you get stuck, and how you should spend your Jade (the premium currency) if you are an F2P player. That, and much more, you will find on the following pages.
- We have the latest Legend of Kingdoms codes, so don't forget to redeem them too!

You can enjoy the game as a F2P player!
It's true that Legend of Kingdoms is a gacha, but it is extremely generous in terms of Recruit Tickets and Jade, so you don't need a whole lot to get started. With a couple of decent pulls, you can easily form a team that can help you pass all the stages, and that alone makes it a great F2P gacha to me. After all, you know I love my gachas! You can progress at any pace
Another reason why this game is great is you don't need to rush - you can enjoy the gameplay at any pace, so regardless if you want to zoom through the stages or take it slow and try out different comps, the game won't punish you. So far I've never had issues getting stuck, and every day I can progress at a steady pace. But enough with the introductions, it's time to dive into the Legend of Kingdoms guide!

Tip #1 - Focus on a few good heroes

In Legend of Kingdoms, upgrading heroes is the key to success. At the very start, you should focus on a couple of heroes because that will make it a lot easier to progress. There are quite a few good heroes and I've shared them all in the Legend of Kingdoms tier list, so you should go ahead and check that out before you make any commitments.
The best would be to focus on one SSR and one SP hero, especially early on, because you will need to invest a lot of resources to make them. To upgrade your heroes you need dupes, so whenever you have a chance to select a specific hero that you're playing, do that.
Don't worry too much about every single hero, because honestly speaking, you will only need a couple of them to carry each stage (early and mid game). By the time you reach end game, you will have all of the heroes upgraded anyway, and since there are not a lot of them, just try to make your team work with what you have.
Which heroes to focus on primarily in Legend of Kingdoms?
The heroes you want to focus on mainly are Ma Chao (Meng Qi) and Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue), since they can obliterate anything. If you could choose a third one, that should be Zhao Yun (Zi Long) or Saint Da Qiao (Da Qiao) as a support. You can always use a healer in the late game, and she is the best.

Tip #2 - Best teams in Legend of Kingdoms

If you want to go for a good team comp, I would recommend one of the following. It all depends on the state of your early game (basically which heroes you managed to pull), but the idea revolves around one core hero that everyone gets: Ma Chao.
#1 team recommendation
- Ma Chao (Meng Qi), Zhao Yun (Zi Long), Lu Lingqi (Ling Qi), Sun Luyu (Little Tiger), Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue)
This would be a fairly good early to mid game team. If you don't have Demon Diao Chan you can swap her for another good DPS, and if you have Saint Da Qiao, you can swap her in Sun Luyu's place. It is a pretty flexible team that can have a lot of damage, so try to use the best heroes you have and constantly make upgrades. You can also go for Demon Cao Cao (Meng De) instead of Demon Diao Chan.
#2 team recommendation
- Ma Chao (Meng Qi), Demon Dong Zhuo (Zhong Ying), Demon Lu Bu (Feng Xian), Saint Da Qiao (Da Qiao), Demon Diao Chan (Bi Yue)
You can always try out various team comps, but you should always keep in mind something important: you should have one support and at least one hero in the front line. You need to be able to mitigate some damage end-game, and you don't want your assassins to get aggro.

Tip #3 - Only upgrade your active heroes

You shouldn't spend your resources upgrading heroes who are not on your team. That is a big faux pas since you don't really have a lot of resources to keep up with everything. I recommend you stick to upgrading 1 hero to max, then the next one. It's pretty rare to be able to upgrade everything together since resources are quite scarce.
You shouldn't EVER level up the faction heroes that you use as fodder, only advance them so you can feed them to your main heroes. That is their only purpose, so don't waste your resources leveling them up even if you don't have any better heroes to use in your lineup.
Ma Chao should be the first one you max, so try to save your resources to upgrade him first.

Tip #4 - Make the most out of the game, and take all the rewards possible

The game is EXTREMELY generous in terms of rewards, so you should try to get the maximum number of rewards every single day. First off, you can get a free Ma Chao every day if you just stay online for a few hours. The best would be to log into the game from a different device and keep it running. It's quite a long time to wait for the free hero every day, but it is extremely worth it.
Secondly, you should always prioritise doing your quests. You have plenty of daily quests as well as weekly ones, and they are a good source of resources and XP. You get never have too much of a good thing though, so try to keep track of the game's events as well.
Some events can give you hundreds of free Recruit Tickets and lots of Jades, and others can give you free heroes. Always attend them as much as you can because you don't want to miss a single one. Even as a F2P player, you can still get goodies to upgrade your lineup, so I strongly recommend you spend some time doing them every day if your goal is to progress.
Oh, and talk about progress, you will get a lot of free recruits if you keep on playing. All you need to do is progress in the story mode, then you have at the top of the screen the 3000 Recruits button. Every time you reach a milestone, go recruit there and claim the heroes for free!

Tip #5 - How to spend your Jades

Jades are the primary premium currency in Legend of Kingdoms. The best use is hero shards and Advance Crystals from the Shop, but at the very beginning, using some Jades to summon a couple of times is not that bad either. I still suggest you save them until you have about 10k of them and then decide what you want to do. I personally summoned a couple of times to fix my team, and then I saved everything.
Whenever there is something good that I actually need in the Shop, I go and spend my Jades there. Keep in mind you can always Replenish your shop ahead of time if you have Refresh Tickets, so if there's something you need immediately, you can do that too.

Tip #6 - Gear up your heroes

Each hero has a different types of gear they can equip. When you head over to the Gear or the Bag> Gear tabs, you can see what gears you currently have. You should always give the best pieces of equipment to your best heroes, and then whatever is left to the rest of your team.
The best gears are the rainbow ones, but since yellow/red ones are easier to acquire, you can rely on those for a while. I recommend you always read the stats each piece gives, and don't rely too much on the auto-gear option. If you want a specific hero to wear a specific piece of equipment, make sure you give them that.
All the equipment rarities are as follows:
- Green> Blue> Purple> Gold> Red> Pink> Rainbow

Tip #7 - More tips and tricks for Legend of Kingdoms

Here are a few additional tips to wrap up this Legend of Kingdoms guide nicely:
- Always progress in the story mode. There are lots of rewards you will get for completing milestone stages, so try to advance every day as much as you can.
- When you cannot advance any more, go complete some events or quests, upgrade your heroes, and then continue. You can also try to swap out some heroes for other ones.
- Try to get the Unrivaled Saber for Ma Chao whenever possible. It will boost his lifesteal and he will be a front line wonder.
- Some battles are won only on manual. Try to time your skills perfectly if you can't seem to get past a boss.
- Remember to always activate the faction bonus. You can see it in the pre-fight screen on top left - form a team that has some good synergy there.
- Read and understand what each hero does. It will make your life a lot easier if you actually know, so you can make better synergies on your team.
- Don't shy away from using whichever gears you have - as long as your team is wearing something, it's better than nothing (even if it's not pink or rainbow).
