While tower defence usually means you're utterly and wholly preoccupied with keeping your defence intact, in Kingdom Rush Battles, there's a teeny tiny added mechanic that switches things up a little bit for your seemingly ironclad defence.

Now, Kingdom Rush Battles' best boosters don't always come in the form of the strongest damage dealers or the tankiest golems - it still takes a great deal of strategy to win, and it'll all ultimately depend on your playstyle.

Every so often - while you're in the heat of battle with chunky orcs and hot air balloon-riding goblins - you'll get to choose from three randomly generated Boosters. These little perks offer either boons for your own towers or curses for the other's - and if you play your cards right, you can send a berzerker troll the other player's way to ruin their day and win.

So, if you fancy sending a stampede of cheeky little dragons with low damage over to the other side to cause some mini mayhem, you're absolutely free to do so - but if you'd rather be more deliberate with your choices, then this handy guide might just be of help.

Magic Golems and Armored Golems

What I personally like to do at the beginning of every battle is have a look at the opponent's hero - if they're a magic-user, then I'll pick an Armored Golem with high physical resistance to send over. If it's the other way around, a Magic Golem with high magical resistance should do the trick.

These lumbering giants are extremely slow, but they have extremely high health too and can be quite the nuisance when push comes to shove. It also adds to your chances of clearing your enemy waves faster than the other player can, which gives you bonus coins the longer your opponent takes to clear their waves. It's a win-win, isn't it?

Farm Tower

Not only do these hen-throwing farmers look absolutely adorable, they also render your enemy's towers absolutely useless - and it's not just a matter of disabling their towers' attacks on their enemy waves. At later levels, they can also disable any direct debuff your opponent's towers are going to have on your own towers and heroes.

The Glacial Druid, for instance, can freeze your towers at max skill level, while the Musketeers can launch missiles to cook your hero. But they can't do that when all they've got are hens, can they?

Call of the Broodmother

The aforementioned chunky golems may look intimidating, but sometimes, it's the tiny nuisances that ruin a perfectly good run. After all, it only takes three invaders to cross that line to make sure your opponent loses - it doesn't matter if that invader happens to be a seemingly insignificant spider hatchling.

Straight out of a horror movie, the Broodmother lays eggs to spawn multiple hatchlings that overwhelm your opponent's pathways until they're overrun by multi-legged creepers. This is especially effective in keeping the other player's hero busy - those single-DPS towers will have their hands full trying to get rid of these pests during a full-blown infestation too.

It's quick, it's scary, and it gives me the creeps - definitely all the right characteristics of Kingdom Rush Battles' best boosters right there.

Blizzard

blizzard description at level 6

Much like its Glacial Druid tower equivalent, the Blizzard Booster can temporarily freeze enemy towers, effectively shutting down their defences as they helplessly watch the chaos unfold. Needless to say, when your opponent's towers are frozen shut, they can't very well keep those orcs at bay, can they?

On the flip side, you also have to make sure your towers are in tip-top shape to withstand any debuffs your opponent may hurl at you - you might want to take a gander at our Kingdom Rush Battles best towers guide for good measure!

Armored Flying Golems and Magic Flying Golems

Much like their ground counterparts, these fierce flyers are armoured either physically or magically, depending on which one you think is most effective against your foe. They don't do any damage at all, but they're quick and pesky enough to slip past your enemy's towers and heroes, particularly if they can't hit flying enemies. I can't tell you how frustrating it feels to simply watch as these things fly past ground troops - past dragons, even.

Ah, the dragons. They're cool but they're meh sometimes - our Kingdom Rush Battles best heroes guide has the lowdown on all that!
