Kingdom Hearts Union X reveals release date for final update that closes out the story and turns the game into an offline RPG

After being delayed from getting a winter launch last year, the final version of the popular Kingdom Hearts mobile spinoff; Kingdom Hearts Union X, finally has a release date for later this month. It was announced at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary that the Square Enix-developed mobile RPG will finally launch the end of its story with this update, and a lot of Kingdom Hearts lore lovers are eager to see how it all ends given how important Union X ended up being to the overarching story.

This announcement also comes ahead of the recently announced Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link mobile game that is set to host a closed beta test later this year at some point. While we don’t know exactly what sort of story implications Missing-Link will hold, it’s a safe bet that this finale of Union X will tie into it in some way. In the meantime, Union X is finishing up all its loose threads and looking to close a story that’s been seven years in the making, so it’s safe to say you won’t want to miss the ending to this one.

For those unaware, Union X Dark Road is a mobile turn-based RPG based on the Kingdom Hearts JRPG series. Spinoff might not even be the right word, given how important all of the story beats ended up being to the overarching Kingdom Hearts lore, which while absolutely insane, is also deeply engaging.

The story of this mobile RPG became especially important with the release of Kingdom Hearts 3, where all of the events that take place within Union X became front-and-centre. Gameplay-wise, Union X is fairly typical gacha fare. Turn-based classic gameplay with banners to roll on that would allow you to party up and wield weapons with characters from the Kingdom Hearts series as you traversed various worlds and did combat with tons of Heartless and boss characters.

If you’d like to experience it for yourself in its entirety, Union X will be releasing their final version on August 26th worldwide, and you can download it and check it out completely free of charge at either of the links below!
