So it's not exactly news that will set the gaming forums on fire, but it is good news for fans of the classic puzzle games Mahjong and Jewel Quest.

Avanquest Software Publishing has today announced it will be releasing versions of both games on DS.

Jewel Quest Expeditions is a gem-matching game, and if you haven't already seen it then you've almost certainly seen one of its many clones. Playing as the adventurer Robert Pack, you travel through Africa on a quest to unlock 180 jewel boards, working through them all using either the DS stylus or control pad to move jewels around and match up rows of like-coloured ones. Best news of all though is that it's playable wirelessly with up to seven other people in a competition mode.

There's not quite so much of interest to say about Mah Jong Quest Expeditions - only that it's based on the traditional Chinese game and features 64 different puzzle boards in eight 'mystical lands'. The game will be broken in a few different modes - Quest, Classic and Puzzle - but each will involve the usual matching tiles before the time runs out objective.

There are no screenshots of either game yet - the one above is of Jewel Quest on mobile (just to give you an idea of what to expect). Both games will be released on September 12th at the bargain price of £19.99. And considering how many hours both games will no doubt be capable of filling, you've got to admit that's pretty good value.
