Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns is coming to DS

Ninjas are usually quite mysterious sorts, so it's refreshing to get one who's a bit easier to relate to. Not that I relate to a protagonist described as a careless, jobless and penniless female of course. Much.

Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns is a sequel to last year's Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, which didn't score brilliantly in our review. This one, though, promises a whole load of improvements - including more dungeons, items, enemies and combat options.

It also delivers the following slightly grubby proposition: "Play hardcore with Izuna. Get in the action by combining down-and-dirty old-school dungeon RPG play with the cutest girl ninja ever, for a 'stimulating' RPG experience."

If that hasn't hooked you, how about the fact that the game uses a special TAG team system which allows you to strategically take any two party members into a dungeon? And that there's a brand new story, and even more side quests to complete on your way to your end goal?

That end goal is to find and rescue your sidekick Shino, who disappears at a wedding Izuna has attended with the sole purpose of nabbing lots of free food. Things go from bad to worse, as always, when grudge-bearing foreign gods turn up.

If being unemployed is normally this tough for people, perhaps the government should think about upping their money.

Currently Izuna 2 just has a US release date - July 22nd. The first one was released in the UK though, so hopefully we'll hear something about a UK release soon.
