Shaping up like South Park meets generic 2D shooter and gets in a fight, Chillingo's latest game follows the rules of the gun-based B-movie.

If it moves, shoot it. If there are lots of them, use a bigger gun. And make sure there's always a big bang and plenty of blood.

Sophisticated entertainment this ain't. Let's just hope it's fun.

In terms of the details, the setting of Inkvaders is a sketchpad, which accounts for the drawing art style of the game. The character you control is G (aka Generic Marine), who must battle from his lunar base on the Moon back to Earth, to wipe the Martian menace from our streets and restore the human race.

But of course...

There are three locations and 30 levels, and you'll be able to unlock 15 weapons as you go along your merry way. Items for collection include ammo, health and jet packs. In addition, you can get Martian rocks and meteors to earn cash and upgrade your weapons.

Bringing additional features into play, you can listen to your music while you play - if you have 3.0 OS we assume. Social networking features such as online high score tables and achievements are also planned via the good services of the OpenFeint platform.

Inkvaders is almost ready to go over to Apple's approval chaps so should be live in a couple of weeks. We'd expect a 99c or 59p price point.
