It was only a couple of days ago that new all-star Japanese developer PlatinumGames, together with publishing partner Sega, announced they were working on a space-based role-playing game that "stretches the DS hardware to the limit" and is "one of the most complex RPG titles" developed for the DS.

But despite Infinite Line not being due for release until 2009, the first screenshots have already sneaked out.

They certainly seem to confirm that it's a space-based role-playing game. Well, there are lots of star-backed atmospherics, statistics, and menu screens. Even ignoring the Japanese language, it looks pretty complex to us.

Still if it's the cross between Elite and EVE Online with touchscreen menus that we hope for, everyone and their starfleet captains should be mighty happy, despite the wait.
