There's a new Ice Age game on the way from Gameloft, just in time for the fourth film in the blockbuster franchise this summer.

Ice Age Village will be available for "most smartphones and tablets" later this spring, and will see players taking part in quests and mini-games set in the Ice Age universe.

There aren't too many other details available on Ice Age Village at the moment, though we do know you'll be interacting in the upcoming game with all the main characters from the film, including Sid, Manny, Diego, and Scrat.

Gameloft's VP of worldwide publishing Gonzague de Vallois has called the game "one of our most important launches this year", so we're intrigued to see what the company can do with the IP.

The Ice Age creatures were last spotted on smartphones in Two Tribes's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which earned itself a Pocket Gamer Bronze Award at review.
