ARTE has just dropped some exciting news - the studio's next puzzle game is coming November 3rd, and it's all about How to Say Goodbye. The narrative puzzle game aims to offer players a poetic and emotional view when it comes to death, mourning and moving on.

In How to Say Goodbye, players can look forward to a different perspective on loss as inspired by children's literature. The game will also be launched on Steam and the Nintendo Switch, and features a distinct style of artwork along with a poignant theme about a character trying to accept his death moments after his demise.

As for the gameplay itself, players need to move various elements in each stage across a grid in order to guide the character to the exit. Of course, they'll have to grapple not only with existential obstacles but physical ones as well, whether it's a simple blocked path or another ghost standing in the way.

"Grief is a universal experience unique to each individual, and one that evokes strong emotions. However, in most video games, it is reduced to a violent act: death is used as a metaphor to indicate to the player in an extremely binary way that he loses or wins, that he exists or does not exist anymore. We wanted to approach the subject in a more subtle and positive way, with sensitivity," says Florian Veltman, designer of How to Say Goodbye.

For now, you can check it out on Steam, Google Play, and the iOS App Store. You can also take a look at the teaser above to get a glimpse of the game.
