Kairosoft's Game Dev Story was one of the more interesting App Store offerings of 2010. Putting you in the shoes of a fledgling game developer, it tasks you with hiring staff, deciding on strategy, and moving up the commercial ranks from PC to Intendro IES and beyond.

We learned a few months ago that follow-up The Game Dealer is on the way, but that Kairosoft is first working on a game that we thought at the time was a gardening sim. Actually, it's about managing a hot springs resort.

Hot Springs Story, released today at the temporarily reduced price of £2.39, invites you to “lull your guests into hot spring Nirvana” by positioning rooms, arcades, and baths, and crafting the perfect Japanese garden using lanterns and assorted flora.

It's not quite game development, but if the leisure industry is your thing you'd best pick it up now, before it shoots back up to £2.99.
