Earlier this week Jet Set Games announced social strategy title Highborn.

Coming to iPhone, iPad, and Facebook, Highborn is a mix of round-based strategic play with social networking features, allowing players to challenge their friends to do battle and brag about their victories in their own personal news feed.

President of Jet Set Games Rade Stojsavljevic has since revealed more about how the game will play.

Games will be split into two separate modes - Map and Combat.

Map mode plays out very much like the Advance Wars series on Nintendo DS, with players using their turns to scoot units around the map, taking up strategic positions to get the better of their opponents come combat time.

As in Advance Wars, forests can be used to hide your troops from the enemy's vision, while mountain ranges are a great place to fire down from.

Located throughout each map are special buildings which, once captured, provide your forces with abilities and powers to help turn the tide of battle.

Stojsavljevic explains that the Combat mode is greatly simplified compared to your average strategy title, to cater for a variety of players, both casual and more hardcore.

Once your troops are in place, you simply select the attack you wish to rain down on the unsuspecting enemy, be it direct damage or a special spell.

Along with the new details, Jet Set Games has also released a bunch of screenshots showing the game in action, which you can view by selecting the screenie in the top right.
