Japanese visual novel Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom coming to western PSP in 2012

It's rare to see Japanese visual novels ported over to western consoles, but that's exactly what developer Aksys is planning to do.

Announced at Anime Expo 2011 in California, and reported by Videogame Writers, Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is getting an English translation, and will be released for PSP.

The game follows Chizuru Yukimura, a young woman who is looking for her father in Japan. The local police force promise to help her out, and she finds herself falling for a few of the men working at the force.

Through choosing her path, you can end up with multiple different endings. The game is very text-heavy, as you'd expect, with thousands of lines of dialogue. This kind of game is known in Japan as an 'otome'.

Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom will be released for PSP in early 2012.
