There hasn't been a major Guitar Hero in five years, and now, Activision Blizzard's latest installment is headed to mobile.

Guitar Hero Live, which you've probably seen the trailer for by now, will be playable on "select" mobile devices.

We don't know which those are yet, but we do know that this isn't going to be some companion app or stripped down handheld port.

The mobile version of Guitar Hero Live will be identical to the one on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U.

That means gamers with will be able to purchase the $99.99 USD retail bundle of Guitar Hero Live for their mobile device too, complete with the game and the guitar.

You should be able to hook it all up to a TV and use your mobile device as the game machine, but there hasn't been too much detail yet.

Guitar Hero Live is coming later this year. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.

One of the last mobile Guitar Hero games earned a Bronze Award.
