Go Go Ghost wouldn't be getting a mention if it wasn't for its blubbery blister bunnies, majestic bird mounts, and spiky belly crawlers.

It's a free-to-play runner in which you just have to tap the screen to jump at the right moment. That part isn't all that exciting.

You play a Rayman-esque ghost sprinting through Ghost Ville trying to save its friends from the monsters.

The monsters are the good part. They have a cartoon look but are often beautifully disgusting. I found myself playing just to see what the next boss would look like.

Unfortunately, most of the time you'll be collecting streams of gold coins across each level. You'll also jump over pits, and squash creatures of a certain colour to collect the gems they drop.

The gems go to the creatures that follow you. They grant you special powers when charged up with enough gems. The first one turns you into an invulnerable giant wearing shining armour, for example.

The gold you collect goes towards upgrades, temporary boosts, mounts, and trapping new creatures.

IAPs can be spent on gems that can be turned into gold, or used to buy special items.

Go Go Ghost isn't going to bowl you over based on its typical runner gameplay. You might want to stick around for its monster designs, though.

You can download Go Go Ghost for free on the App Store right now.
