Gladiator enters the mobile arena
Spaniard! You will go on my first whistle!
It's hard to imagine those Roman warriors running around the Coliseum in those silver swimming trunks and rolling about in big, spherical cages.
We jest, of course. It's very easy to imagine.
Anyway, some eight years after the Roman epic was released in the cinema, it would seem Maximus is back for another lash at the corrupt Empire. Two versions of the game are in development; one for 3D capable handsets, and a 2D version for the wimps.
Packed to the cheap seats with gladiatorial blood and action, the 3D screenshots do indeed look quite dynamic and in the full, brutal spirit of Ridley Scott's original film.
"We are very pleased with the mobile game that Fishlabs has developed based on the Gladiator film," says Giovanni Maruca of Paramount Digital Entertainment. "They have done an exceptional job translating this property into a compelling and entertaining game that we hope will engage and entertain mobile users around the world."
