Crescent Moon's tilt-tastic Gears is rolling, rolling, rolling towards the App Store
Meshed
There have been plenty of games involving gears on the App Store - i.e. Geared - and plenty of tilt ball games too - i.e. Labyrinth.
Gears, the forthcoming iOS game from RPG specialist Crescent Moon, is a mixture of the two.
Boasting 27 levels, which have been designed to test your tilting (or swipe-to-roll gesture skills) from periods ranging from 45 seconds to 10 minutes, you can either play using a time limit for more points, or un-timed if you're just getting started, or don't like the pressure.
The levels have also been designed to enable multiple routes so while there's always a straight route to get to the exit, you can explore the different branches and paths as well.
Three-way playGameplay-wise, these variations are spread across three environments.
The Brass Menagerie, is a steampunk-themed world (Crescent Moon games always need some steampunk, after all) that will let you get up to speed at your own pace. Rivers of Magma is about collecting points as you make your way through the depths of a volcano.
Finally, in the Cavern of Omens, you can explore the different pathways through an underground cave complete with lakes, waterfalls, mazes and traps.
Of course, the graphics are optimised for iPad 2, as well as supporting Retina display and Game Center for leaderboard integration.
Gears will be released as a universal app for iPhone and iPad, priced $1.99, €1.59 or £1.19. It's due out on April 21.
