ngmoco’s Neil Young to talk iPhone in GDC Mobile keynote

Over at Gamasutra it’s been announced that ex-EA executive and founder of the celebrated iPhone development studio ngmoco Neil Young is to give this year’s keynote speech at the forthcoming Global Developer’s Conference Mobile.

The GDC is the world’s largest developer-only conference, with more than 18,000 attendees, and the keynote speeches provide valuable street maps for the industry’s immediate and long term futures.

A summary of Young’s speech, entitled ‘Why the iPhone just changed everything’, indicates that he’ll (naturally) be pushing the iPhone forward as the future of mobile gaming, comparing it to industry-changing consoles like the Atari VCS, the Nintendo NES and the Game Boy - and from what we’ve seen, it’s going to be very hard to disagree with him.

ngmoco has undeniably pioneered the gaming potential of Apple’s device - releasing a lot fewer games than some of its competition, but pushing the boundaries of the system’s expectation with titles such as Topple and Pocket Gamer’s only Platinum Award winning game so far, Rolando.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
