Game Dev Story 2 planned for iPhone, just not 'soon'

Did you enjoy Game Dev Story on iPhone and iPod touch? Pretending to be a young go-getting CEO of an up and coming game studio, churning out titles like Funky Island and Call of Booty only to have your hard work chewed up by harsh game reviewers?

Well, good news. The game’s sequel will be getting an English translation and coming to US and UK App Stores, developer Kairosoft tells Touch Arcade. Just not soon. Game Dev Story was a Japanese PC game from 1996 that got the iOS treatment earlier this year. The sequel hit PC in 2000.

But it won’t be a straight port, and Kairosoft has plans for new content. The developer would like to see more social interaction, letting you share sales numbers with friends over leaderboards, or send your top employees off to a friend’s company.

Dev Story 2 is being held up by a SimCity-style miniature garden game, where green-thumbed gamers take on a small plot of land. The developer says it’s a very Japanese focused game, but would still like to bring it into English.
