Galaxy on Fire 2 finally goes Supernova in latest expansion

The long-awaited Supernova expansion pack for stunningly gorgeous space shooter Galaxy on Fire 2 is now available.

Supernova picks up from where previous expansion Valkyrie left off, blasting you straight into the middle of a battle between the Mido Confederation and a sneaky - but deadly - squadron of stealth fighters.

In addition to a substantial ten-hour campaign, Supernova contains oodles of new boosters and blasters; seven extra star systems to explore; and eight new ships in which to explore them.

Before you prepare for the jump to light speed, though, you should be aware of one thing. Due to the linear nature of the Galaxy on Fire 2 story, you will need to have played through the Valkyrie add-on before you can embark upon Supernova's campaign.

However, if you've yet to tackle Valkyrie, Fishlabs has created a budget bundle containing both expansions, priced at £6.99 / $9.99.

Valkyrie veterans, meanwhile, need only part with £4.99 / $6.99 to feel Supernova's heat.

Zero-fee

Finally, if you don't fancy shelling out for additional content, all Galaxy on Fire 2 owners will be able to play the Supernova Challenge arcade mode, investigate new vendors at the Kaamo Club, and get to grips with six extra ships - provided you've earned enough credit, of course.

You can grab Galaxy on Fire 2 [buy] and Galaxy on Fire 2 HD [buy] for £2.99 / $4.99 apiece.
