G.I. Joe: War on Cobra, a strategy game based on the popular show and toys, is available now for iOS and Android

Emerald City Games’ new strategy game G.I: War on Cobra is available now for both iOS and Android. It’s a multiplayer strategy game that’s based on the hit animated tv show and the figures that accompanied it.

It won’t just be the figures of people that you’ll take charge of, though. Players will also be able to command a fleet of vehicles across land, sea and air. If, like me, you always preferred the villains in most tv shows when you were younger, you might also be happy to hear that you can play as team Cobra and attempt to wipe out the Joes.

Some of the roster that will be at your disposal includes Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, Baroness, Destro and Storm Shadow. Plenty more are expected to be added in the coming weeks too, so if your favourite isn't available on launch they may be added later. These characters can be also unlocked through events with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow up for grabs this week with another event to obtain Roadblock and Baroness starting on 24th.

Once you’ve assembled your squad of heroes or villains you can test your skills against other players in PvP and battle your way up the ranks. You will need to be prepared for attacks from land, sea and air, ensuring that your correctly equipped with a mixture of turrets, sea mines, armed troops and heavy artillery.

According to Emerald City Games, which side you choose - Joes or Cobra - will lead to a different playstyle as both factions have access to different units and buildings. So it’s probably best to experiment with both to see which better suits your strategic tendencies.

G.I Joe: War on Cobra is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It’s a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
