In a blog post this morning, Sony has confirmed that Halfbrick's Silver Award-winning fruit-slicing classic Fruit Ninja will debut for Vita on the US PSN this week.

If you've been living on a different planet for the past few years, Fruit Ninja is a touchscreen slasher in which you hack your way through a variety of different natural delicacies at breakneck speeds.

Don't cut the bombs, though. That's bad.

Fruit Ninja should be a decent fit for the Vita given that gorgeous touchscreen display. If you're expecting something that pushes Sony's portable powerhouse to the fullest, though, you'll be a little disappointed.

At review, we called the iOS version of Fruit Ninja a "sharp little arcade game with great modes, superb online features, and a quality feel that makes it a pleasure to play".

We don't know yet when Vita owners in Europe are going to be able to get their hands on Fruit Ninja, or how much it's going to cost.

Rest assured, though: as soon as we find out, we'll let you know.
