From Beneath learns from Amnesia: The Dark Descent for its survival horror experience

From Beneath is toted as a "console-quality" stealth horror experience heading to iOS and Android.

What this means, apparently, is that a bunch of teens straight out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer get continuously lost in dimly lit hallways. At least, that's what the screenshots seem to show.

But it's a little more interesting than that, luckily. According to the creators, it's a story that you experience from eight different perspectives, each of them intertwining.

This corresponds to the eight people that wake up inside a strange, twisted version of the world and try to survive and get out of there.

Unfortunately for them, there's also "something" inside this world that eats away at their fear. However, each character has a unique "gift" hidden deep down inside them that senses whenever a fright is near.

So if you pay attention to this gift as you guide them in each mission-based environment then things should go smoothly. But if you get too close to monsters or gruesome sights then the character's sanity will drop.

And as their sanity drops the world becomes even more nightmarish and... well, you can see how this spirals out of control.

If you've played classic horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent on PC then you'll know how well this sanity mechanic can work. Hopefully it leads to a lot of the same panic and terror in From Beneath.

At the moment there's no release date for From Beneath but keep an eye on its website for updates if you're interested.
