Following on from the December Appvent Calendar, which saw one iPhone game given away from free on a daily basis, new website FreeAppADay.com has gone live.

Similar in terms of its promotions, the website will highlight one iPhone game that has dropped its price to free every day of the year.

The first game to get the free treatment is the popular Rope'n'Fly from Robert Szeleney (pictured).

According to Joe Bayen of ICS Mobile, who together with mobile advertiser tech provider TapJoy and the social gaming network OpenFeint is behind the initiative, daily free slots have been booked up for the next three weeks.

"Our goal at FreeAppADay.com is to guarantee that smaller developers with polished apps will be able to monetise the process of giving away their game for free over the longterm," says Bayen.

"It's important to stress that we're focused on high quality apps though. That's why we practice a strict selection process to ensure each game or app posted on the site has the potential to generate revenue for its developer."

Consumers can also set up email notifications for free applications available in their category of interest, such as arcade, sports, utility, and so on.
