Firemint is currently lowering its landing gear on the DSiWare version of its awesome, genre-defining line-drawing iPhone game Flight Control, but the studio has still found the time to partner up with Namco to bring its addictive puzzle game to mobile.

"Collaborating with Firemint to provide casual game lovers with a mobile version of the top selling brand is a proud moment," says Scott Rubin, vice president of sales and marketing at Namco Networks. "The Flight Control experience transfers perfectly to the targeted mobile platforms because of the intuitive controls and pure simplicity."

Exactly how the line-drawing mechanics will be worked out on mobile isn't clear as yet, but guiding planes and helicopters into land on the mobile sounds like a great way to expand on this massively popular franchise, as Firemint CEO Robert Murray explains.

"Having sold over two million copies on the iPhone in under a year, Flight Control has achieved amazing success. It will be a great feat to see our game reach an even broader demographic with the mobile edition."

Flight Control mobile is scheduled for a July release on Java, Windows Mobile, Brew, and Android (so there'll be some touchscreens at work, anyway). Oh, and don't forget the iPad version.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
