They say a week is a long time in politics, but a year is a lifetime in terms of the App Store.

Congratulations then to publisher Freeverse and developer Strange Flavour as Flick Fishing has completed 356 days of App Store activity.

Indeed, despite what everyone says about the Long Tail - small amounts of sales building up over a long period of time - Flick Fishing has sold strongly throughout, remaining in the US Top 100 for the majority of this time, selling over 1.3 million units in the process.

It was also one of the first games to support in-app purchases; and the first to do so successfully with 70,000 players downloading the additional 99c Private Beach pack.

As part of its celebrations, a new update has been released bringing the game to version 1.4.1, and the price has dropped from $1.99 to 99c for the weekend.

To extend the game's longevity further, the special named fish can now be caught repeatedly, and they will be heavier every time they're caught.

For the month of November, all the fish will be heavier too, because of the birthday cake they've eaten apparently.

And various tweaks have also been made to the Plus+ social networking system so you can merge local and global high scores and the like.

Flick Fishing is out now, priced 99c, €0.79, or 59p. Hit the 'Buy It!' button to go direct to the App Store.
