  • Gorgeous hand-drawn visuals
  • Based on interviews with real people
  • Runs for just under half an hour

Artist Komitsu has announced the official launch of Five Years Old Memories, a charming interactive narrative that takes you back to the good ol' days of childhood on your iPad. The short but sweet experience offers you a trip down memory lane as you relive the days of your youth across hand-drawn aesthetics and low-pressure gameplay.

As the title suggests, Five Years Old Memories lets you go back in time to when you were five years old by way of actual interviews with real people. The dev took the time to talk to family and friends and based the gameplay scenes on their personal experiences as a child, inviting you to dive into a "sensory experience" where you can drag and drop your way through hand-drawn scenes.

"This is an interactive omnibus animation based on interviews with my friends about their memories around the age of five, based on their personal sensory memories and episodes," says Komitsu.

The runtime is only 15-20 minutes and will set you back by $2.99 a pop. Interview, Animation, and Design credits go to Komitsu, with Shoto Hayakawa as the Engineer and Natsumi Nogawa as the music maestro. The game was crafted as part of the Artists-in-Residence Online program, which, in turn, is organised by the NTT InterCommunication Center.
