The best of the best: Where to trade-in your iPad or iPad 2
|

Want one of those shiny new Retina display-equipped iPads? Already have an iPad or an iPad 2?

If you answered 'yes' to both of the questions above, you're in the perfect position to trade-in your old device, get a little bit of cash for it, and snap up Apple's new tablet without breaking into your child's college fund.

Numerous retailers around the globe - including Apple - are running special trade-in deals at the moment - some of which are offering better prices than others.

We've done some digging, spent some time browsing the web, played some Infinity Blade II (hey, it was my lunch break), and constructed this handy round-up of the best trade-in deals out there.

Go on, carry on scrolling.

Apple

Apple has its very own recycling scheme for those who wish to trade-in their old wares. The Cupertino-based company takes your ageing gadgets and replaces them with either cash (UK) or a Gift Card (US) - both of which can be redeemed against future purchases. Y'know, like the new iPad.

If you're first-generation 16GB wi-fi-only iPad is in perfect condition, you can nab as much as £112 / $101 for it. Add 3G to the mix and Apple will throw an additional £15 / $29 your way.

Similarly, a working 16GB wi-fi-only iPad 2 will net you £195 / $205, with the 3G-enabled model scoring you around £217 / $250.

Head on over to Apple's website and enter your iPad's details into the specially designed UK and US recycling sections to see how much you can earn.

eBay

Online auction site eBay is almost guaranteed to give you more money for your old iPad than any other website or retailer, which is simply because you cut out the middle man.

Naturally, if you choose to take this road, expect a slower process. You'll be waiting for money to clear and parcels to arrive.

Still, it's probably worth it. 16GB first-generation wi-fi-only iPads are currently listed on the website for as much as £255, which is over half the asking price of 'the new iPad'.
