Nokia takes the reigns for a week while the rest of the web goes loopy for 3G iPhone rumours
It's the weekly Pocket Picks round-up

It wasn't an especially busy week over on out sister site Pocket Picks, but if there was any one theme that rose above all the others, it was almost certainly a little known company called Nokia.
The Finnish giant kicked off the week with three handset announcements. The 6600 fold, 6600 slide and 3600 slide all certainly had the looks to compete, though in some cases were a little lacking spec wise. The trio was followed swiftly by a very forward-thinking Nokia branded eco-charger that stops sucking power from an outlet as soon as your phone is fully juiced.
There was also a fascinating insight into how Nokia spends its time when trying to come up with new handset designs. In the case of Nokia's chief designer anyway, it seems that time is spent playing Wii Sports, but the justification that Nokia wants to seek inspiration from the console for its future handsets is enough to convince us.
Indeed, later in the week the Nokia/Wii connection was made a reality by two programmers who ingeniously managed to harness the Nokia N95's Bluetooth and accelerometer features to create what is undoubtedly the world's first (and probably the last) virtual sword fighting app. More stuff like that, please.
Some less exciting but more more useful software made up the last Nokia post, with news that Nokia Maps has added real-time traffic updates.
Shockingly, there really wasn't much to speak of in terms of iPhone news last week, besides bucket upon bucket of unsubstantiated 3G iPhone rumour slop, which we condensed into one bumper post midweek. The biggest structural change? Well, if you're going to expect anything from the new version of the device, expect a plastic shell rather than a metal one.
The only other big news last week then was of the software variety, first with word that Sony Ericsson is to marry Flash Lite 3 and Java for a new super powered development platform, currently code-named Capuchin and set to launch later this year. Then DivX made the headlines by announcing that it has added its video on demand service to its compliment of mobile compatible video services.
We also caught wind of a new forthcoming comic service for Android handsets called AVE!Comics, which could potentially bring the biggest digital gallery of titles of its kind to a mobile platform.
And lastly, some less than expected news snippets. It seems that if you need your text messages married to an aroma in order to be completely fulfilled as a human being, then you haven't got long to wait as a German company has promised to bring scented text message technology to market within the next two years. And if you're feeling a bit industrious and are also short of cash, get down to your local landfill site with a spade, as apparently discarded mobile phones are chock-full of valuable precious metals just waiting to be excavated.
That's it for now, we'll be back up to full strength next week with a full compliment of eager news hounds, so click 'Track It!' to be sure to catch our next Pocket Picks round-up.
