We'll be honest: the world of high fashion is a bit alien to us. In fact, we're barely on speaking terms with the world of low fashion, such is our scruffiness. However, that shouldn't stop us making it as a fashion mogul, should it?

Milan's Bocconi University doesn't think so. It's teamed up with developer Impressionware and UK newspaper The Times for a free mobile game called Fashion Empire.

It gives you a virtual year in charge of a fashion business, choosing shop locations, and overseeing the design, manufacturing and distribution of your clothing. There's even a visual representation of fashionistas flocking (or not) into your stores to show how well you're doing.

Meanwhile, there's a Fashion Stock Exchange online high-scores table, which ranks players sorted by country. Bocconi University wants to use the game as a recruitment tool for potential students.

The Times is offering the game as a free download, with a competition to win a four-day trip to Milan for Fashion Week if your score is the best. Check the website for full details of how to get Fashion Empire.
