The stylish Escape from the Pyramid brings parkour to Ancient Egypt, out on iOS today

Imagine the original 2D Prince of Persia merged with the fast-paced running of Canabalt. Relocate the setting to Ancient Egypt and you have Escape from the Pyramid.

We spotted this smooth, stylish runner last year but now, as of today, you can purchase it on iOS.

It puts you inside the labyrinthine maze of an enormous pyramid and tasks you with escaping it. If only it were as easy to accomplish as it was for me to type that.

It involves running as fast as possible while leaping over lava and spikes, and avoiding snakes, scorpions, and spiders. All manner of Egyptian horrors, then.

You'll also want to collect gems and golden beetles as your fingers try to keep up with the game's speed - jumping, dodging, and changing direction when required.

Canopic jars can also be found, hidden away, that let you summon the power of the gods to help you out. So look out for those.

And, as you've probably seen, all of this happens on the game's eye-grabbing papyrus-style art work. It's certainly an attractive little number.

You can purchase Escape from the Pyramid for £1.49 / $1.99 on the App Store right now. It has no IAPs whatsoever.
