SimCity Deluxe launches on the iPhone
iPad and iPhone 4 city planners left in the dark
SimCity Deluxe, the latest iteration of the classic city-building series, launched on the App Store today, bringing a whole host of extra features to the iPhone version of the franchise.
Chief among the new features is a much-improved graphics engine that allows for 360-degree viewing and seasonal effects like snow to flow in front of the camera. Gameplay-wise, the interface from the original has now been cleaned up and the overall speed of the game has received a welcome boost.
SimCity Deluxe also comes with seven scenarios for on-the-go play, and seven pre-built cities to blow up with a wide range of disasters ranging from an alien invasion to earthquakes.
For owners of Apple’s two most recent devices, however, there’s already some grumblings from iPhone 4 users on the App Store who feel the lack of Retina display support is a major oversight.
iPad users are left even more in the dark, though. While every ounce of the world's common sense, not to mention our very own Rumour Miner, suggests, SimCity Deluxe would be a perfect fit for the larger machine. EA refuses to comment on whether such a version exists.
SimCity Deluxe is out now for the iPhone and iPod touch priced at £3.99 / $6.99 / €5.49.
