Hooray for him!

Earthworm Jim now alive and wriggling on iPhone

We've been following the game industry's favourite super-invertebrate on his adventure toward iPhone since Gameloft first snagged the rights to bring Jim and his super suit to a host of new platforms, and last night he fell to Earth right on schedule.

For those who've only just discovered video games, Earthworm Jim revolves around an ordinary worm that finds himself the recipient of a super-powered super suit, and sets off on a quest across the galaxy to heroically rescue Princess What's-Her-Name from the evil Psy-Crow and Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt.

Along the way he must defeat some dazzlingly amusing characters born from the righteous pen of artist Doug TenNapel, such as Evil the Cat, Professor Monkey-For-A-Head and Bob The Killer Goldfish, while blasting, jumping, whipping, and bungee jumping his way to success.

The iPhone conversion does use a virtual D-pad, which isn't a favourite of ours, but otherwise the conversion looks quite stunning. It's not a small download at 111MB, but £2.99 sounds like a very reasonable price so hit the 'Buy It!' button to check out Jim's App Store goods right now.

Groovy!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
