Neutronized's Drop Wizard is a cheerful and challenging 16-bit arcade game heading to iOS in early 2015
Magic stars
For its next trick, Neutronized is going to drop a wizard out of its hat. That's my lame way of saying the studio has announced Drop Wizard.
It's the next game from Neutronized after its icy puzzler Lost Yeti and the superb dino skyscraper-punching game Roar Rampage.
It has the sprightly visuals and arcade action feel that we're more of less come to expect of Neutronized. That's a very good thing if that wasn't obvious.
As this titular wizard, you set out on a quest to save your friend who has been turned to stone by a curse. You can brush that barebones plot aside now.
Drop Wizard is played by tapping the sides of the screen to move the wizard left and right. You can't jump, so the only way of getting back to the top of each multi-tiered level is to fall through the hole at the bottom.
As you can see in the trailer above, it's a game of constantly looping around the level, collecting power-ups and coins.
Your main goal seems to be to defeat all the enemies. You do this using the stars that the wizard fires automatically from their wand.
Attacking enemies is a matter of timing and facing the right direction, then.
As we expect of Neutronized, it seems that Drop Wizard will be cheerful and challenging. It will be coming to iOS in early 2015.
