Devolver Tumble Time opens pre-registration ahead of planned January release date

The parody match-3 puzzler that was announced earlier last year, Devolver Tumble Time, has officially opened pre-registration ahead of its planned January 2023 launch window. From the titular developers Devolver, this comedic little jaunt sees you completing puzzles as you experience all of the worst parts of mobile gaming in one hastily wrapped package.

I’m gonna level with you here, it’s nigh impossible to describe exactly what Devolver Tumble Time is. It’s a physics-based puzzler, sure, but beyond that, it gets tricky to describe what is absolutely a commentary on the mobile gaming market.

From aggressive monetization to in-game ads and every other typical thing that comes with the mobile gaming experience, you're gonna have a crazy amount of stuff thrown directly into your face as you take part in daily challenges and complete these puzzles. There’s also a metric ton of fanservice for fans of Devolver’s games, as it features plenty of their characters like Jacket from Hotline Miami or the Bullet from Enter the Gungeon.

On top of all that, you’ll also be able to unlock even more characters and purchase more content for the game. It’s tough to say if those purchases are even real, as the game clearly labels them in jokingly aggressive ways that play on the typical microtransactions that often plague the platform.

Tumble Time is a weird game. That’s the aptest description I can think of, but that’s not exactly a bad thing. Devolver is often a very funny company, with plenty of parodic takes on gaming, and Tumble Time is no different.

If a comedic take on both mobile games and gaming as a whole sounds up your alley, or if you just want to see what weird trick Devolver has up their sleeve with this one, you can pre-register for it right now at the link below! There's currently no App Store page to pre-order from, but keep an eye out for updates on that front.
