First-person rat basher Delver dungeon crawled its way to a PG Silver Award last year, but a huge new update will see the game getting even better.

At the end of last week, Chad Cuddigan of Priority Interrupt put a bunch of comparison screenshots online, that show the improvements the new pixel art, from a new pixel artist, makes.

The screenshots were only in reference to the PC version of Delver, so we reached out to Cuddigan to find out if the Android version would get the same treatment.

Cuddigan got back to us explaining that Delver was always built to be cross-platform, so he can write the code once and distribute it out to all versions simultaneously.

Currently, Delver is only available on Android and PC, so if it's so cross-platform, why is there no iOS version? Don't worry, Cuddigan addressed that when speaking to us. Behold:

"The game is already running on iOS, but I'm waiting for the game to be a bit more complete before launching there," revealed Cuddigan.

Exciting news for sure. There's more, too. Cuddigan went on to detail the further changes that the next update would bring to Delver.

"The biggest changes that people will notice out of the gate is the new art and sound, of course," Cuddigan tells us. "But also the new starting area with NPCs - some of them being vendors."

"Gold is now dropped by monsters in the dungeon that can be spent at the start of a run before going into the dungeon to gear up. That gold is saved between deaths so that, even if you die, you can hopefully use some of your earnings to make the next run go better," continued Cuddigan.

Another big change that players can expect is to the levelling system. You won't just level up automatically, with the next update you'll get the chance to spend points on upgrading your character; tailoring them to your preference.

The game has been rebalanced to address this new character flexibility, which apparently ensures the choice you make when levelling up feel important.

"If the player wanted, they could just spend all of their points on increasing their speed stat, and just run by everything in the dungeon. Or they could dump them all into magic, which lets them get more uses out of the wands they find, and turn the game into Doom," Cuddigan adds excitedly.

There's no specific date for this upcoming Delver update on Android yet, but you should expect it arrive soon.
