Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances invades the Canadian App Store

Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances is now harvesting resources on the Canadian App Store.

Though EA is clearly trying to hark back to the good ol' days of Command & Conquer with this cross-platform, free-to-play MMO, Tiberium Alliances is a very different beast from the '90s RTS you (may) remember.

In fact, what EA has done here is slapped some old recognisable branding on a very modern resource-management game.

As in the original Command & Conquer, you have to mine for tiberium in this new franchise instalment. Whether you're playing as NOD or GDI, this resource is necessary to erect vital buildings, such as vehicle construction yards and barracks.

Unlike its ancestor, however, Tiberium Alliances is chock-full of timers, restricting what you can and cannot build at any given moment.

Should you wish to, of course, you can eliminate waiting times altogether via credit-boosting in-app purchases.

A new kind of warfare

For this iPad and browser version of Command & Conquer - which has been in development for what seems like an eternity - developer Phenomic has replaced the standard troop micro-management options with a streamlined, no-fuss system.

So, you simply organise your waves, click on your enemy, and the AI will take care of the rest.

If you're in Canada, you can try out Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances for free right now. If you're not, well, you can't. For the time being.
