Cat Quest III lets you return to an adorable world of cats, dogs, and other anthropomorphic critters. This time, however, instead of being a noble hero or king, you’ll go on a swashbuckling adventure across the high seas in search of the North Star treasure. You’ll battle enemy buccaneers, swim across the ocean in an innertube, and partake in ship battles in the latest instalment of the Cat Quest series.

Long ago, the North Star crashed to Earth. Seekers went in search of it; sure, it could fulfil their every desire. However, not wanting to share the wealth, they locked it away. Many years later, a plucky young pirate begins the search anew.

Cat Quest III is a 2.5D RPG in which you’ll explore the Purribean Sea as you battle enemy pirates, meet quirky characters, and take on a variety of fun quests. The pirate theme is a fun change, breathing fresh life into the series.

Cat Quest III Lets You Explore at Your Own Pace

This swashbuckling RPG gives you a significant amount of freedom to explore the world at your own pace. You can complete quests in any order, so you’re never stuck on a linear path. Seek out challenging foes, complete engaging side quests, or focus on your primary goal, finding the North Star treasure.  

You can even collect bounties by defeating certain boss enemies. From gathering missing books for a spirit in a cave to delivering mail to starfish and rats, the many side quests offer ample entertainment. 

As you explore, you'll plunder new outfits, spells, and weapons which can be upgraded in town. Levelling up your gear is a great way to gain an advantage in battle. But honestly, one of the best parts of collecting new gear is dressing up your furry pirate avatar.

Cat Quest III Features Compelling Combat

Combat is fairly simple, but that doesn't mean it's always easy. You can switch between your melee and ranged weapons by tapping the switch button. Holding the attack button down and sliding your finger over a spell icon allows you to cast it. As you explore the many isles across the sea, you'll encounter pi-rats, parrots, and other perilous enemies.

Your best bet for surviving is learning your enemies’ attack patterns and utilising dodge to avoid taking too much damage. Despite its simplicity, combat is incredibly immersive. You'll thoroughly enjoy bashing pi-rats with your blade and unleashing spells on your foes as you dodge incoming attacks.

New Ship-to-Ship Combat

Ship-to-ship combat, while mechanically similar to melee combat, is a fun new challenge. Weave your ship through the water to dodge incoming cannon fire while firing cannons of your own. You can also attack enemies on land from your ship and break down barriers with cannon fire.

While traversing the many islands of the Caribbean, you'll come across caves and dungeons to explore. These tend to be worth checking out, as there are always treasures to be found, and you never know where you might run into a pirate in need of assistance. 

Cat Quest III is a compelling RPG with heart. Sailing the seas and battling enemy ships is incredibly enjoyable, while battling enemies on land offers its own fun challenge. There are plenty of cheeky characters to interact with, and discovering a new quest or clue about the North Star treasure is always a delight. With easy-to-pick-up controls, engaging gameplay, and an adorable feline protagonist, this title really is the Cat's Meow.
