Updated on October 23rd, at 09:20: Stainless Games has released a minor update for Carmageddon that purports to fix the progress-wiping bug that has been plaguing players.

Original story follows...

Stainless Games's classic racer Carmageddon is having a few engine problems. Several speed freaks are complaining that their game progress has been wiped, you see.

Stainless Games has acknowledged the problem, and has offered a temporary - not to mention lengthy - solution on its forums. Naturally, the studio is working on a proper fix.

Basically, if you find that your save data is missing, don't start a new game. Instead, ensure that you're logged into Game Center. You may also want to quit the app and remove it from your multitasking dock before firing it up again.

You can find full details on the Carmageddon forum.

If you still fancy taking this racer for a spin, you can download it from the App Store for £1.49 / $1.99.
