Classic Mac and PC racing title Carmageddon has just swerved onto the New Zealand App Store, meaning it'll be available in the UK and US from around midnight this evening.

Not familiar with this racer? Allow us to educate you.

Carmageddon was first released back in 1997, but it was subsequently banned due to its gory nature. Your aim in this game, you see, is to earn points by mowing down grannies and other helpless pedestrians across real-world locations. Lovely.

There are 11 of these environments to explore, and 28 crazy opponents to overcome. You can fill your virtual garage with no fewer than 30 playable cars, and fill your virtual trophy cabinet with loads of Game Center-powered achievements.

Carmageddon is a freebie. Well, for one day, at least. We suggest you grab it while it's gratis and spend the cash you save on fuel.
