Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's director shares a small teaser on what to expect for the game within 2023

Fans of ArtPlay’s massively successful metroidvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night are in for a wonderful new year, as the developers recently teased a bit of good news in an interview with gaming outlet Famitsu. Given how large the game has become, seeing ports to all consoles, PC, and mobile, it was almost a given that it would receive more content, but we finally have confirmation as well.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the latest project of Igarashi, the creator of the legendary Castlevania series itself. After leaving Konami to pursue his own indie studio, Igarashi released Bloodstained unto the world, and as previously mentioned, it was a massive hit.

Full of the classic gameplay loops of the old Castlevania games though modernised with more responsive controls, 3D graphics, and an absolute boatload of content, it’s easy to see why it’s been such a hit. On top of this, Bloodstained has also seen a ton of additional content added in as the years since launch go by, be they small updates or giant expansions full of new enemies, weapons, and bosses.

And now we’ve got a confirmation that players can expect even more on the horizon. In an interview with Famitsu, Igarashi and his partner Shutaro Iida mentioned that they’d like to wrap-up the rest of the content they have planned for the game before they move on to the “next step”.

Now, we don’t quite know what this means exactly, but they described it as a hopeful “big announcement in 2023”, which to me personally sounds like it might be news on the sequel that is already known to be in development.. That’s speculation, however, so we’ll just have to stay tuned for more updates.

In the meantime, you can catch up on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night itself by purchasing it at either of the links below for $9.99!
