Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game might just be what the franchise needs to succeed

No slow-mo here

Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game might just be what the franchise needs to succeed
  • Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game brings the Netflix original movie series to the small screen
  • Play as four different, customisable classes inspired by the films
  • Take on the forces of the Imperium by running, gunning and completing objectives

The Rebel Moon franchise is one that rode an initial wave of hype and excitement, which seems to have since cooled substantially. And with a long wait still to go before the trilogy wraps up, fans may be left feeling disappointed. But Netflix aren't done with the Rebel Moon universe yet, as we can see with today's release of Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game.

Set on the planet Krypt, you join a group of rebels fighting against the oppressive forces of the Imperium. To do so, you'll pick from four different classes with different abilities that you can customise to your heart's content, be that in appearance or loadout.

There's definitely something of the first Helldivers gameplay-wise in Super Evil Megacorp's spinoff. You'll dive into high-stakes, action-packed missions, running and gunning your way through the forces of the Imperium while accomplishing different objectives, teaming up with up to four other players in co-op multiplayer.

Man on the (Rebel) Moon

While movie tie-ins have a dire reputation even now, SEM's take on the Rebel Moon universe takes the straightforward approach of making it all action with no slow-mo or flowery dialogue.

The decision to emulate the original Helldivers, consciously or not, is equally interesting, as while the sequel is of course big news, it was the isometric running 'n' gunning that made the franchise what it is. And the use of different classes evoking many characters from the films is a fantastic way to offer a variety of playstyles without straying too far from the core gameplay.
